Two More Stars Confirmed For 2025 WWE Hall Of Fame
Two more stars are heading for the WWE Hall of Fame.
With WrestleMania 41 just around the corner, the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2025 is beginning to take shape. With Triple H, Michelle McCool, and Lex Luger already confirmed, a famous tag team from the early 1990s will also be joining them.
Following a report that The Natural Disasters were being lined up for the honor, Fred Ottman, better known to fans as Typhoon, has confirmed the news.
During a new interview with Bill Apter, Ottman described getting the call from Bruce Prichard as an “incredible thing.”
“It is an honor. It was crazy when I got that phone call. I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘Wow, what an incredible thing.’ Because I always say there are so many guys that are so worthy to be in there that aren’t yet. And for this to happen, it was just amazing.”
Ottman went on to speak in glowing terms about his former tag team partner, John Tenta, when asked why their team was so successful.
“I think because we were physically able to do a lot of stuff that smaller guys did, and we worked so good together,
(Earthquake) was literally my brother from another mother. I’d tell him that all the time because we’d cut up and joke and have a good time and John was just so amazing as an athlete. I was proud when they put us together.
When we were on the road, it was like—I hate to use this term—a married couple. We’d go to the movies, we’d go shopping together, and all that stuff. And we were hot on TV at that point in time. I remember going with his family and my family to Disney World in Florida when we were there. And that’s when we were hot off TV.
These mean heels, you know, and we’re riding the Dumbo ride, and we’re riding the ‘It’s a Small World After All.’”
It was great. I never had to worry about him, he never had to worry about me. We were always where we were supposed to be. We’d be early, and whatever needed to be done, we did. And that makes for perfect business.”
Ottman (Typhoon) and Tenta (Earthquake) began teaming together in 1991 and went on to win the World Tag Team Titles during their relatively short run as a duo.
After the team split, Ottman headed to WCW and infamously debuted as The Shockmaster in August 1993. He made a brief return to WWE in 1994 but spent the remainder of his in-ring career on the independent scene.
Tenta also found his way to WCW via a spell in Japan, signing with the company in late 1993, where he was known as The Avalanche and later The Shark. The star made a quick stop in WWE in 1994 before remaining with WCW until early 1997.
The former Tag Team Champion re-debuted in WWE in May 1998 as part of The Oddities under the name Golga, but he left the company again in the early months of 1999. Tenta finally called time on his in-ring career in 2003 after a run with All Japan.
John Tenta sadly passed away on June 7, 2006, after being diagnosed with bladder cancer.
WWE Makes Hall Of Fame Change
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on April 18 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. This marks the first time in several years that the ceremony will be a standalone event and not attached to WWE SmackDown.
The announcement comes after it was reported that people within WWE disliked the previous format and were looking for changes to be made.
