Two Major Heel Turns On AEW Dynamite
AEW Dynamite in Fresno, California saw two stars of the company show their true colours as they attacked a homegrown star.
On Wednesday night as AEW paid tribute to the late Jay Briscoe, it was only fitting that former Ring of Honor stars such as The Young Bucks, Bryan Danielson, Jay Lethal, and Bandido were all in action.
Former WWE star Toni Storm was also in action against Willow Nightingale. Storm was accompanied to the ring by another former WWE star in Saraya after the two women teamed up the previous week, losing to AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker DMD.
Fans in Fresno were shocked to see Saraya distract Nightingale to allow Storm to pick up the victory but worse was to come. Saraya then attacked Willow Nightingale after the bout, with Toni Storm joining in, putting the boots to her opponent. Earlier in the night, the two women had blasted AEW’s homegrown female stars all the while former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida looked on dismayed.
Willow Nightingale did find help from Ruby Soho, as she ran to the ring to chase off Saraya and Toni Storm, but as a fellow former WWE star, the women of AEW might want to be careful who they trust in the coming weeks.
There has already been some suggestion that this is leading to a battle between ex-WWE stars and homegrown All Elite Wrestling competitors which could mean an introduction for someone who many thought was going to be Saraya’s tag team partner recently.
