Truth About 3-Time WWE Champion’s Alleged Heat With Triple H
A 44-year-old star has recently addressed his rumored heat with WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H.
Justin Gabriel (aka P. J. Black) joined the Stamford-based company in 2008. After two years in developmental, he made his main roster debut as part of The Nexus in 2010.
The former three-time tag team champion had a five-year stint on RAW and SmackDown before he was released from his contract in January 2015.
While discussing his time in WWE in an interview with Wrestling Then And Now, Gabriel was asked about his relationship with Triple H. The South African star disclosed that he loves The Game. Meanwhile, he recalled them having somewhat of an altercation backstage, which sparked rumors of real-life heat between them.
Triple H, also love the guy. I respect the guy. We had one little altercation once. It wasn’t really an altercation. I was just like, it’s not even a disagreement, but, you know, it led to some other stuff. And like, I think, at the time, the dirtsheets said that we had heat. And still years later, people asked me about this. You have heat with him? I that why you left? And I was like, no, that’s completely a different story. Like, at the time he was corporate H, right? So, he wasn’t one of the boys anymore. So, he was just a person you wouldn’t like hand out with. He was just, he was office. [5:34 onwards]
Justin Gabriel Had Heat With Another WWE Legend
During his interview with Wrestling Then And Now, Justin Gabriel also opened up about initially having real-life heat with Chris Jericho during his WWE run.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion recalled Y2J legitimately beating him up in the ring. He also disclosed that they had some issues backstage before they buried the hatchet.
I love the guy. In the beginning, he did not like me at all. Oh my gosh, if you go back, watch that SummerSlam match. The first spot that he does in the ring, he gives me it’s like a duck, one, give me an elbow, I thought he broke my jaw. I was dying, and I was like, I was wondering I was like, there’s no way that anyone can make that mistake. He did that on purpose.
So the lot next few times I wrestled him, he took a couple of shots, and I was like, “Huh, okay.” And I was like, I couldn’t figure out the story, and I can’t really tell this on air, but uh, some stuff happened backstage, and I got pulled into the office at the time with a bunch of the older guys, and they’re like, “You’re not allowed to act like this. You can’t do this. You got to respect your elders and all that stuff.” And uh, but you know, ever since that day, we were cool. And you know, like when I quit too, like he called me immediately. He’s like, “Hey, you want to do my podcast?”
