For the first time in 17 years, Trish Stratus competed in a WWE live event on Saturday night.

This year has been all about proving WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus still belongs in WWE 17 years after her retirement as a full-time wrestler in 2006. Stratus won a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania 39 with Becky Lynch & Lita. Shortly after that, Stratus turned on Lynch and Lita leading to a current feud with Lynch that has lasted over four months.

At last night’s WWE live event in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital city of Canada), Trish Stratus teamed up with her buddy Zoey Stark in a handicap match against Becky Lynch. Since live events usually have the babyfaces picking up wins, it wasn’t a surprise to see that Lynch found a way to beat her two opponents in the match.

The last time Trish Stratus had a house show match was August 27, 2006, losing to Lita, who was the champion at the time. Trish would end up beating Lita to become the WWE Women’s Champion for the final time at Unforgiven 2006 in Toronto. That was Trish’s retirement match from her first run as a full-timer in WWE.

Earlier this year at Night of Champions in May, 47-year-old Trish Stratus won her first singles match in 17 years going back to that Unforgiven 2006 match.

What’s Next For Trish Stratus?

Last Monday on the August 14th edition of Raw, Becky Lynch finally got her rematch against Trish Stratus to avenge the Night of Champions loss from three months ago. It was a match that some people wanted to see at SummerSlam, but it got pushed to Raw instead.

The Stratus-Lynch match ended in a double countout due to the action spilling out to the floor and the two women going after each other. They would fight all the way up to the concession stand area where Stark arrived to help Sratus beat up Stark yet again.

Moments after the match, WWE Official Adam Pearce informed Trish she’ll have a Steel Cage Match with Lynch. It is expected to take place at the WWE Payback Premium Live Event on September 2nd in Pittsburgh.
