Trish Stratus Admits Storyline With WWE Legend Ended Early Due To Injury

Trish Stratus

During her stint in WWE, Trish Stratus was involved in several interesting storylines.

One such plot involved a potential long-term romance angle involving Jeff Hardy. The writers attempted to bring the duo together once again after it failed the first time.

Stratus has now shared what really happened behind the scenes and why the first attempt never came to fruition.

The conversation started on X when a user shared a backstage segment featuring Jeff Hardy and Trish Stratus in 2001.

In the video, she is seen thanking Hardy for saving her from the Big Show. However, they were interrupted by Lita and Matt Hardy before the discussion could take shape.

Another fan commented on the post, “The start of the first love storyline with Jeff and Trish before it got canned.

The former WWE Women’s Champion came across the comment and replied while admitting that it was her fault as she had suffered an injury.

One can only wonder what the ‘big plans’ were. WWE tried to revive the storyline once again in 2003, but it abruptly ended as Hardy was released in April.

Trish Stratus Reveals Her Favorite WWE Match

Trish Stratus had multiple stints in WWE, during which she won the Women’s Championship 7 times.

Of late, her appearances have been sporadic, the most recent one coming at Evolution, where she unsuccessfully challenged the then-WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

During an interview with Tales From The Collection, the 50-year-old revealed that her match against Mickie James at WrestleMania 22 was her favorite.

I would say Mickie James and I at WrestleMania 22. That was such a [audience claps]. We love that one, right? The storylines. And it’s just one of those things where storylines, especially for women, and just storylines in general in wrestling, they just don’t go on and on. They just kind of stop and start and forget — Mickie and I are really proud that we had that storyline. We used to say hashtag longest rivalry ever, but I think maybe me and Becky [Lynch] might have that now, actually.

But yeah, loved working with her. Loved our crowd reaction at WrestleMania 22 [and] the fact that the crowd was wanting that so badly. Amazing. It was really fun working with her; she’s obviously amazing, so yeah, that’s the one.
