Trish Stratus Recalls Linda McMahon’s Incredible Idea During WWE Attitude Era Story
Trish Stratus has revealed how Linda McMahon had an interesting idea during a major WWE Attitude Era storyline.
When Trish Stratus debuted in WWE in early 2000, she was a valet for the T&A tag team of Test & Albert. Toward the end of the year, she was part of a storyline involving the evil WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
The story between Trish and Vince led to an affair between the married owner Vince and the blonde bombshell Trish, who was more than half his age at that point. It also involved the revelation that Vince drugged his wife Linda McMahon so that she was almost in a comatose state while Vince was having his affair with Trish.
There was one more moment where Vince and Trish were in Vince’s home while Linda was there in a wheelchair right around Valentine’s Day. Trish even kissed Linda on the forehead before walking away.
In the new Vince McMahon Netflix documentary called “Mr. McMahon” that was released this week, Trish Stratus revealed that Linda was heavily involved in the story as well.
“One of my very first storylines was being paired with Vince McMahon. Knowing that I was about to work with the boss, and with Mr. McMahon, was a huge opportunity. I was super excited about it. I don’t think the storyline was pitched like, ‘What’s gonna happen is you’re going to be Vince’s mistress and you’re gonna eventually drug his wife.’ It wasn’t quite pitched like that. I’d have gone, ‘What am I gonna do now?’ It was something that evolved. It was like, ‘Let’s see where we can take this.’ Well, it took some interesting turns.”
Vince McMahon would go on to talk about the salatious things that Vince and Trish did in the storyline.
“Get this now. I kissed Trish Stratus in front of my wife in a wheelchair. The reason why we did that was to show what a despicable heel I was. I mean, you can’t get any more despicable.”
Linda McMahon Suggested Idea To Trish Stratus During Unique Storyline
That led to Trish revealing how Linda contributed to the story by suggesting that Trish kiss comatose Linda on the forehead.
“We were very aware of what we were doing to provide fuel for our storyline and Linda was super cool about it too. She was in on it. We were all in on it. There was a scene where I lean over and I kiss Linda. That came from Linda. She’s like, ‘It would irk so many people if you lean over and kiss me on the head.'”
Elsewhere in the documentary, Trish Stratus defended the controversial “barking like a dog” segment with Vince McMahon because it had a great payoff at the end when Trish slapped Vince during his WrestleMania 17 match.
