Back when Trish Stratus was a top performer on the women’s roster, she had been written into a few romantic angles with superstars such as Chris Jericho, Christian, Carlito, and Jeff Hardy.

While each had their own impact, the storyline with Jeff Hardy struck quite a few chords with the audience. Certain moments from the on-screen romance remain a fond memory for the fans, especially since they witnessed the budding chemistry between the superstars.

Trish Stratus explained why WWE cancelled the romantic angle

The WWE Hall of Famer reflected on her career during an interview with Chris Sumlin on Hot 97.5. She was asked about her favorite on-screen romance, with Sumlin himself revealing that the Hardy-Stratus storyline is his favorite.

Thing was obviously Trish and Lita, Trish and Lita, that is the thing right there. But then, like oh, Trish and Lita with a spin. Let’s go Matt and Jeff. I was like, okay. We were exploring that and we were excited because then we’re looking for like tg matches, like the stuff we could have done. I broke my ankle. It just halted and we never, you know at that point everyone evolves and things move on. So, we never revisited it.

Ideally, the storyline was supposed to mirror the real-life relationship between Matt Hardy and Lita. It added a unique sense of understanding between the four superstars.
