Trish Stratus Gives Bold Take On Canada Becoming 51st U.S. State
Trish Stratus gave her opinion on her country of Canada possibly joining the United States.
The WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was recently inducted into the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in Albany, New York.
In an interview with legendary wrestling journalist/photographer Bill Apter for 1Wrestling Video, the Canadian Stratus and the American Apter had a friendly exchange about the political landscape between the two countries. They talked about how Stratus will get a ring for her Hall of Fame induction, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
Trish: “Canada Post did have a strike, so I’m going to attribute it to that.”
Bill: “There’s a lot going on with strikes and everything.”
Trish: “Hopefully it won’t get tariffs on it and whatnot.”
Bill: “Once you people agree to become part of the United States.”
Trish: “Not happening, Bill. Not happening.”
They went on to joke about how there’s a “no politics” policy during the interview.
What they were referring to was American President Donald Trump, who was actually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the same class as Trish Stratus in 2013, wanting Canada to join the United States as the 51st state. In Trump’s opinion, if that were to happen, then the US wouldn’t have to impose tariffs on Canada.
For their part, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has told Trump that Canada is not for sale.
Trish Stratus Agrees With WWE Fans’ Take On Her Match At Evolution
The WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus competed in three matches in 2025. She was in the Women’s Royal Rumble, she won a tag team match with Tiffany Stratton at Elimination Chamber in Toronto, and then she lost a WWE Women’s Title match to Stratton at the Evolution PLE this past July.
In the same interview with Apter, Trish Stratus agreed with fans who criticized WWE for not building up the Stratton/Stratus match more.
“Fans are like, ‘they haven’t even promoted Evolution.’ I was saying the same thing. I’m like, I don’t know, do people care?
Luckily, Tiffany and I had a built-in storyline. Kind of had been percolating for like a year, and people were sort of seeing the friendship, but then, ooh, are they going to turn? And all that sort of thing, which was kind of fun. So I was like, I don’t know, I don’t really have a big storyline, and maybe I’ll just do it another time.”
