Triple H Believes WWE Legend Is Similar To Character Portrayed On TV

There is at least one character on WWE television who is very similar to the person that he is outside of the ring, according to Triple H.

When pro wrestlers talk about being characters on television, they sometimes speak about how the best characters tend to be like who that person is in real life, but the volume gets turned up a lot when it comes to being a WWE superstar.

What that means is that when they are in the arena, it’s important to show more emotion, make more noise, and be that character because then it leads to a better product.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared at TEDSports Indianapolis, and he spoke about how former WWE Champion CM Punk is an excellent example of somebody who is a character on television, but as a person, there are a lot of similarities to the character.

“Then there are characters — and I’ll just use this as an example — like CM Punk, who’s a massive character for us but with CM Punk, CM Punk is Phil Brooks, his real name. Phil Brooks is CM Punk, and it’s really difficult — if you went down the character of CM Punk, it’s really hard to delineate that from Phil Brooks.

Almost the same person, and Phil Brooks’ attitude and his excitement or his displeasure with things comes out in his character. It’s on his sleeve, right?

But, that’s a great character for us because you never know the blend of is that real? Is that not real? Are they taking a real situation and ramping it up, turning the volume on it to make it worthwhile?”

Triple H Claims That Surprises Will Happen At WWE Wrestlepalooza

As the WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H gets to oversee the creative team and make the decisions about who wins the matches, who loses the match, and who might show up as a surprise. While speaking about the WWE Wrestlepalooza event on September 20th on ESPN in the US (and Netflix worldwide), Triple H teased the idea that there will be surprises at Wrestlepalooza.

“Nobody does big events like WWE, with possibly the exception of ESPN, right? What you guys do—the hype that you put around it, shows like this coming up here, and having my honor being here with you, you know, all of this First Take, ESPN.

ESPN builds those events to be bigger than anything, and then we deliver on them bigger than anybody. So expect spectacle, expect surprises, expect to have a lot of fun, and ESPN is going to deliver.”
