Triple H Claims Triplemania Was WWE’s “Day 1” In Mexico

WWE Triple H Raw Promo

TripleMania XXXIII took place on August 16, 2025, at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, marking a historic crossover between WWE and Lucha Libre AAA. This became the first TripleMania under the WWE banner, and Triple H has hinted that the sports entertainment giant is there to stay.

Major WWE stars participated, including Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, who competed in the AAA Mega Championship fatal four-way main event. Other featured WWE talent included Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Raquel Rodriguez (competing in a mixed trios match), Los Garza (defending AAA World Tag Team titles), and Natalya (challenging for the Reina de Reinas Championship). The event also saw appearances from Angel, Berto, and NXT’s Lola Vice.

What Triple H Said About TripleMania

Triple H addressed talent and fans in a backstage video, emphasizing that WWE was not there to take over or change lucha libre, but to enhance and amplify it. He stated that this collaboration aimed to authentically honor Mexico’s unique wrestling culture.

He made it clear WWE planned to help the tradition grow for the future, underlining the historic nature of the event and calling TripleMania “day one” for WWE in Mexico.

“In sort of looking at the landscape of the wrestling world, overall, there was a thought of places we could amplify what they do. One of the first and foremost markets we thought of was Mexico. How could we help to grow what they do? How could we help to add to it?”

“Worlds Collide showed people that it would be authentic and the lucha that they love. I felt like it was just the start. Realistically, it was. It wasn’t our promotion. It was a joint promotion. This is now us. This is now WWE. While, sometimes an event like TripleMania can feel like the end of a run, like a Super Bowl of the Finals, this is really the start. This is day one,” Triple H said.

Otis and Omos Return at TripleMania

TripleMania 2025 also witnessed the surprising returns of WWE stars Otis and Omos. Omos was absent from WWE for nearly 16 months. He made a major mark by winning the 14-man Copa Bardahl battle royal, which was the opening bout of the night. He entered at #13 and eliminated multiple competitors, including La Parka, to pick up the victory.

Otis also made his surprise return in the same match on the TripleMania 2025 night. He was sidelined due to an elbow injury and had undergone surgery. He entered the match at number 9 and was eliminated by Microman.
