Triple H Trained Sports Legend For WWE Appearance

Triple H worked behind the scenes with a boxing legend.

In recent years, the likes of Bad Bunny and Logan Paul have redefined the term “celebrity wrestler,” raising the bar higher than many imagined. Both men have received great praise for their work from seasoned veterans after turning in impressive performances far beyond their experience level.

However, back in 2008, expectations were a little different.

At No Way Out that February, The Big Show was confronted by boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., which eventually set up a match between them at WrestleMania XXIV. During the build-up, Mayweather legitimately broke Show’s nose, and fans were more than a little curious about what would happen at WrestleMania.

In the No Disqualification Match, Show was attacked by a member of Mayweather’s entourage and beaten with a steel chair before the boxing star knocked him out with brass knuckles.

Mayweather hasn’t competed in a WWE ring since, although he was a guest host of Monday Night Raw in 2009.

Triple H Trained Floyd Mayweather Jr.

During an appearance on the FLAGRANT podcast with Andrew Schulz ahead of WrestleMania 41, Triple H revealed that he trained with Mayweather before his match with The Big Show.

“I helped him when he wrestled for us and fought Big Show. I trained him for that. He would show up with this massive entourage, everybody hooting and hollering and just crazy.

We’d talk for a little bit, and he’d be like, ‘You want to get down to work?’ ‘Yeah.’ He’d whistle or something, ‘Alright, business. Everybody out.’ Everybody would stop talking, and anybody who stayed would stop talking, and everybody else would get out of the room. He was laser-focused.

The first time we trained together, we did two hours, and then I had to go on the road. I came back to Vegas and same thing, everyone is there, he tells everyone to get out, and I go, ‘I want to review what we talked about last time.’ He goes, ‘Can I say it to you?’ He went on for 20 minutes and told me everything. I was like, ‘Damn. Alright.’”

Following WrestleMania 41, Logan Paul hit back at suggestions he’s a part-time WWE Superstar, commenting that he appears whenever Triple H asks for him. At the event, Paul defeated AJ Styles on night two.

Meanwhile, Hip Hop star Travis Scott claimed WWE is now his “full-time job” after his latest WrestleMania cameo.
