Triple H Made Top WWE Star “Dial Back” Famous Promo

Triple H made changes to a popular WWE Raw promo.

At the Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre put a stop to CM Punk’s momentum before it had a chance to get going. During the men’s Rumble match, Punk tore his triceps in a scuffle with McIntyre, and the rivalry that would go on to dominate Raw was set in motion.

On the episode of Raw following the Royal Rumble, the rivalry between the pair kicked off in earnest with McIntyre claiming he’d prayed for Punk to get injured.

Punk later cost McIntyre the World Championship on two occasions, while the Scot left Punk a bloody and broken mess on SmackDown.

At SummerSlam, Punk was finally cleared to return to action, but he was defeated by McIntyre in a chaos-filled match where Seth Rollins served as the special guest referee.

Triple H Was Worried Promo Would Offend WWE Fans

During an appearance on the Notsam Wrestling podcast ahead of SummerSlam, McIntyre was asked about his famous promo on Raw. The star revealed Triple H actually dialed back what he wanted to say to avoid causing offence.

“I actually went a step further, and between Triple H and I, we got it where we felt like we wouldn’t offend a lot of people. I had it a little further than that, and Triple H dialed me back slightly, and we landed there,”

McIntyre went on to claim he was the one who kept CM Punk relevant while he was out injured.

“That’s one way to look at it because he’s right. He is a gigantic name. But at the same time, I would say to him, he’s been out for seven months. As big a name as he is, if it was anybody else in my position that couldn’t do their job like me or didn’t have the same feelings I had, did I not make him and keep him relevant and justify the big check that he’s been making the whole time so people are actually excited to see him come back and have this gigantic match at a stadium show? Does it not work both ways? Egotistical prick,”

Following SummerSlam it was reported that CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will meet inside Hell In A Cell at Bad Blood in October. The first-ever Badd Blood event in 1997 was headlined by the inaugural Hell In A Cell match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.
