Triple H Threatened To Fire Top WWE Star: “One More And You’re Gone”

WWE Triple H SmackDown

A surefire WWE Hall of Fame career could have been over before it began after Triple H threatened to fire a major star.

Triple H might be the top decision maker as far as creative in WWE goes after taking the reins from his father-in-law, Vince McMahon. But his rise to power began in earnest when he formed the NXT brand in the early 2010s. That brand has seen the great and good of WWE stars pass through over the following years, and in its infancy, Triple H was very hands-on. So hands-on, in fact, that he was ready to fire someone who became a top star for the company over the next decade.

Triple H Almost Fired Seth Rollins

Speaking on Mohr Stories, Seth Rollins revealed that when he joined WWE, he had a major chip on his shoulder. Rollins noted that trainers and coaches trying to get him to conform to his new environment led to more than one heated confrontation. That was until Triple H gave Rollins a very stern warning:

I don’t care how good you are. One more [incident], and you’re gone.

Rollins revealed that it was Joey Mercury who explained to him that he needed to learn how to play the game in the company:

When you go out to the ring, you’re not yourself. You play a character, right? It’s the same thing when you’re talking with these people. You’re playing a character. When you go home and you’re with your girlfriend and your dog, you’re still you. You’re always playing the game.

I had this feeling like I was betraying my authentic self… but Joey reframed it. It’s an act. You’re always playing the game.

During the conversation, Seth Rollins revealed when his current deal with WWE ends, as well as discussing his first-ever meeting with Vince McMahon.
