Triple H Finally Reveals The Rock’s True Thoughts On Heel John Cena
Triple H has finally explained how The Rock really reacted when he pitched John Cena to turn heel in WWE.
At Elimination Chamber in early 2025, John Cena stunned the world as he kicked Cody Rhodes below the belt and joined forces with The Rock and Travis Scott.
Reports later emerged that The Rock had wanted Cody Rhodes to turn heel, but instead, the idea had been floated by Triple H that John Cena finally do what was previously unthinkable and abandon his fans in his final year as a WWE star.
Rumours of unrest at the top of WWE have rumbled ever since, with suggestions that The Rock and Triple H are still very much rivals. But it seems The Final Boss was very happy with what Triple H had to say about Cena’s heel turn.
The Rock Supported Triple H’s Idea
Speaking in a clip from WWE: Unreal, Triple H explained how he spoke to those involved at the top of the company to make Cena’s heel turn happen and revealed how The Rock really reacted to his plans:
There are five people that I talk to with a move this big. It’s Rock, obviously it’s Cody, Cena, Travis Scott, who we wanna help build this idea around, and then WWE President, of course, Nick Khan.
So my first call is to Nick, who’s also a (TKO) board member alongside The Rock. I run the idea by him, Nick basically says, “Love all of it.” So my next reach out at that point is to The Rock. I hit him with “What if…hear me out on this,” and he just listened, and every now and then, through the conversation, he would go “Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.” I wasn’t sure if he was giving me the “Mm-hmm, just get to the end so I can tell you how much I hate it.”
And I got to the end and he was like, “Wow, man I gotta tell you I think that’s genius.” He immediately started riffing thoughts and ideas so we spent another 30 minutes on the phone together talking about this. The more we talked about it, the more we were both getting excited about it and into it.
