Triple H Makes Surprising Claim About Famous WrestleMania Loss
Triple H is looking back on his career by giving an interesting take on one of his most famous WrestleMania matches.
When he debuted in WWE in 1995, Hunter Hearst Helmsley was an egotistical heel who bragged about how rich and sophisticated he was.
The Triple H name would come over two years later when he formed D-Generation X with Shawn Michaels, and that name has stuck with him a lot longer than Hunter Hearst Helmsley did.
Triple H will headline the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class during WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas, so he’s been looking back on his career as a wrestler.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, they talked about Triple H’s WrestleMania debut when he lost to The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 12 in 1996. It was a match that only went 1:35 with Warrior dominating the whole way and hitting a running splash to the back for the pinfall win.
Looking back at that match, Triple H still views it as a great experience rather than an embarrassing moment.
“Actually, it’s a funny thing. For me, this is my first WrestleMania that I would compete in. And for a lot of people, they think this is almost an embarrassing moment in my career for me. I was basically squashed in a couple of minutes by The Ultimate Warrior.
But for me, one, it was my first WrestleMania, and two, The Ultimate Warrior is one of the biggest stars ever in the WWE.
So when they came to me and said, ‘You’re going to get to work with the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania,’ I was just out of my mind, excited, sort of.
That, to me, is one of my greatest memories of just it being. It’s like going to the Super Bowl and you got to throw against Brady or something like that. It was just such a great experience for me, and I enjoyed it immensely.”
