Triple H & Stephanie McMahon’s The Authority To Make WWE Return?
The Authority was a two-person heel stable in WWE.
Comprising Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque and Stephanie McMahon, it often aligned with other wrestlers or higher-ups like Vince McMahon, often serving themselves and dispelling anyone who stood on the opposite end.
The stable was disbanded in 2016, but reunited a couple of more times until the power couple competed and lost in a tag team match against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34.
Triple H has served as WWE’s Chief Content Officer since 2022, spearheading the promotion’s creative team.
While the initial years with him at the helm did wonders, 2025 has not been nearly as successful due to a plethora of reasons.
Amid the struggles and related criticism coming their way, there were often discussions held about Levesque bringing himself as an authority figure into storylines, similar to what Vince McMahon did in the late 90s.
However, the 56-year-old continues to operate behind the scenes, usually providing voiceover in promotional videos or appearing in reality TV series like WWE: Unreal.
Are Triple H And Stephanie McMahon Returning To WWE As The Authority?
Stephanie McMahon stepped away from her WWE role in 2023 and has since made sporadic appearances. She was recently seen at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where John Cena competed in his final wrestling match.
Triple H was heavily booed when he came out after Cena’s loss to Gunther in the main event, showing the fans’ frustration with the creative direction.
Neither he nor Stephanie has made any comment about returning as The Authority; elsewhere, Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo made a wishful thinking, hoping they would return, as it would benefit the company.
Vince Russo revealed his thoughts while speaking on The Coach & Bro podcast.
I hate to say it because my god, did they beat it into the ground when they did it, but a return of Triple H and Stephanie at this point would probably help the show. [1:14:17 onwards]
