Triple H Makes Bold Prediction About Seth Rollins & CM Punk Rivalry
Seth Rollins and CM Punk share one of the fiercest and most bitter rivalries in WWE.
The Visionary once looked up to The Best in the World as a mentor and friend during Punk’s WWE run. However, when Punk abruptly left WWE in 2014, Rollins felt abandoned, ghosted by someone he considered a role model.
Rollins has often criticized Punk for being selfish and unprofessional, accusing him of turning his back on WWE, the very company that helped build him. At times, Seth Rollins has even gone as far as to label Punk a cancer within the industry. His vow to never allow CM Punk to reign at WWE’s pinnacle as long as he’s around came to life at SummerSlam Night One.
On WWE’s biggest summer stage, CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship after a brutal match against Gunther. But moments later, Seth Rollins showed up to rain on his parade. Rollins was perceived to be injured after his match with LA Knight on Saturday Night’s Main Event XL. But it all turned out to be a big fat ruse.
The Monday Night Messiah shocked the world when he dropped his crutches and knee braces and ran to the ring to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, stealing the title right from under Punk’s nose.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ Bitter Rivalry Will Last for a Long Time
During the SummerSlam post-show media conference, Triple H weighed in on their rivalry’s depth and longevity, making a bold prediction for what lies ahead. Triple H believes that the intense animosity between Seth Rollins and CM Punk, born from deep personal and professional wounds, promises a rivalry that will define an era, lasting as long as their passion burns.
“It’s Seth’s passion for this business, his passion for WWE, that fuels his anger, his hatred, his unforgiveness toward CM Punk. In Seth’s mind, Punk wronged the one thing he truly cares about, WWE, and respect for this industry. He will never forgive him. He cannot move past it or grow beyond it. I believe they are destined to battle until one of them is done,” Triple H told reporters. [From 1:02:27 to 1:02:54]
