Triple H Says WWE Hopes to Do Women’s Tournament This Summer

TJR Wrestling

Triple H was recently a guest on FOX Sports’ Wrestling Compadres Slamcast where he talked about plans for a women’s tournament in WWE.

With the success of WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 and the United Kingdom Championship Tournament this past weekend, wrestling tournaments have proven to be hot again. With this now being the case, the big question is “when’s the next tournament?”

Dale Rutledge of the Wrestling Compadres Slamcast asked Triple H if there was any further development on the idea of a women’s tournament. There have been plenty of reports over the past few months from reliable internet wrestling sources that a women’s tournament was in fact happening. However, Triple H’s conversation with Rutledge was the first time this concept seemed official since Triple H acknowledges it and gives a time frame as to when he hopes it’ll happen.

Triple H had the following to say about WWE doing a women’s tournament in the future:

“So, that’s another one of my big, big kind of passions, is to go do that, a women’s tournament.

“When you look at the big calendar of where do you stick an event, that’s changed. And you have to look for the space where you go like, “Do it here! … no, that’s not good, you have a holiday.” Right?

“The women, we’re probably going to do this summer, is what I’m hoping, and a lot of women performers just [reacted] when I said that, but that’s the plan anyway.”
