On August 16, AAA held Triplemania XXXIII in Mexico City. The event featured more WWE influence than ever before, with several Superstars in high-profile spots, including the main event.

In the show’s headline bout, Dragon Lee, El Grande Americano, and Dominik Mysterio unsuccessfully challenged El Hijo del Vikingo for the Mega Championship. With Mysterio seemingly closing in on victory, AJ Styles made a surprise appearance to ensure he missed out on the gold.

Triple H Hypes Up AAA Roster

Before Triplemania went on the air, Triple H addressed the AAA locker room, flanked by Shawn Michaels, Nick Khan, and Dorian Roldan. As well as hyping up the night ahead, he again promised that WWE wasn’t looking to change AAA, only make it “everything we want it to be.”

“I want to make sure everyone understands that we’re not here to change this. We’re not here to take this over. We’re not here to make it something different,” he explained. “We’re here to do this with you, to enhance what you do, and make it grow beyond anybody’s wildest dreams. Let’s take on this tonight and build on it from here.

All you guys have been doing it now, we’re going to do it together, so let’s turn this into the biggest thing we can possibly think of, let’s dream big and go to work to make this everything we want it to be.”

Despite those comments from Triple H, it’s been reported that WWE is looking to change the AAA logo before the end of the year. According to the report, the new logo will reflect the company’s new identity as part of the TKO Group, and carry a “fresh, modern look.”

During Triplemania, it was also announced that Worlds Collide will return on September 12 in Las Vegas. The first event took place on June 7, during Money In The Bank weekend, and was immediately touted as a success.

That event was headlined by Chad Gable vs. El Hijo del Vikingo for the Mega Championship.
