Ex-WWE Star Believes Triple H Liked The Person, But Not The Character
A recently released WWE superstar feels like Triple H never really got behind the character.
Former WWE veteran superstar Carlito announced that his two-year run with the company was coming to an end. Rather than releasing Carlito while he still had time left on his contract, the company informed Carlito that his deal wouldn’t be renewed when it expired in mid-June.
The 46-year-old Carlito worked for WWE from 2004 to 2010 as a midcarder, typically playing a heel role. During that heel run, Carlito was a former United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion In WWE. After six years on the main roster, he was released in 2010.
During his WWE run over the last two years, Carlito joined The Judgment Day in August 2024, spending nearly a year with the faction that has been heavily featured on the Raw brand for over three years.
Even though he was part of The Judgment Day, Carlito was rarely featured in matches. While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Carlito discussed how his WWE boss, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the company’s Chief Content Officer, liked Carlito as a person but likely wasn’t a huge fan of the “cool” character. Carlito revealed that he is the one who wanted to be a goofball kind of character with The Judgment Day.
“I orchestrated that. Some people were complaining, ‘They have him as an idiot,’ but those were all my ideas. I took, literally, ‘creative has nothing for you,’ and I made something of it. I went in there and I said, ‘I’m not going to complain.’
I’m one of the older guys, I’m not going to get prioritized and I’m not gonna get pushed, and Hunter [Triple H] is not a fan of Carlito. I think he personally likes me, but I think he was never a big fan of the character.
What I did was, ‘I’m in the Judgment Day, it’s the hottest group here, how can I stay in this group? Boom. This is what it’s missing.’ The writers were great, they gave me a bunch of freedom.
They would come to me and say, ‘We have this backstage (segment), we don’t really have anything for you here, but we were hoping you would Carlito-fy it,’ is what they would say. I would find where I could do something. It took off from there and every week it was great. They gave me total freedom to do whatever I wanted.”
Triple H Criticized For Meeting Controversial Political Figure
There was some criticism of Triple H for something unrelated to WWE recently. That’s because Hunter and his wife Stephanie McMahon had a meeting with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump, who is a WWE Hall of Famer. Kennedy has been outspoken in the past about vaccines and other health-related issues that have been controversial, so he has many naysayers.
On social media, legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette blasted Triple H for meeting and supporting somebody like RFK Jr. and being proud of it.
Then perhaps don’t help give credibility to a former heroin addict with a brain worm who eats roadkill and works tirelessly to take America back to a simpler time when now-curable diseases killed large numbers of children.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Triple H did not respond to the comment publicly.
