The first night of WWE’s SummerSlam 2025 featured an exciting tag team match that drew significant attention.

Country music star Jelly Roll teamed up with WWE veteran Randy Orton to face the duo of social media sensation Logan Paul and powerhouse Drew McIntyre. This matchup was the result of weeks of intense build-up, blending real-life personalities with wrestling drama.

The feud began on the July 4 episode of SmackDown when Drew McIntyre returned and confronted Randy Orton. McIntyre challenged Orton’s legacy by claiming the legend was dead. Orton responded with a classic RKO, setting the tone for their heated rivalry.

Shortly after, Jelly Roll was performing live when Logan Paul interrupted, insulting the WWE roster by calling them outsiders and dismissing Roll’s performance. Orton stepped in to defend Roll, escalating tensions. McIntyre and Paul then attacked Orton, but Roll intervened to even the odds.

The animosity only intensified in the following episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event XL. Orton defeated McIntyre, but after the match, Paul attacked Orton again, prompting Roll to step in. McIntyre retaliated with a Claymore Kick on Roll, fueling the desire for a tag team clash. Both teams agreed to face off at SummerSlam, making it a must-see event.

Triple H Reveals Jelly Roll Broke His Finger on His First Day of Training

Despite Jelly Roll’s lack of wrestling experience, he performed admirably in the ring alongside Orton. However, their team came up short, losing the match to the more seasoned duo of Paul and McIntyre.

During the bout, Roll appeared to sustain an injury and was seen limping afterward. In the post-show media conference, WWE Creative Content Officer Triple H praised Roll’s toughness, revealing he had previously broken his finger on his first day of training.

“When did you break your finger? The first day? Broke his finger day one, taped it up, taped it to the other ones and got right back in there and went and did it,” Triple H said.
