Triple H Names His Favourite WWE WrestleMania Entrance
Triple H has recalled one of his memorable WrestleMania entrances as perhaps his favourite of them all.
During his career as a 14-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, which led to two WWE Hall of Fame inductions, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was known for having some of the coolest WrestleMania entrances in the history of the business.
Whether he was being played to the ring by the iconic band Motorhead or promoting a Terminator movie, it seemed like Triple H could pull off anything for his entrance.
In an interview on Stephanie’s Places with his wife, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H was asked if he had a favourite WrestleMania entrance. He mentioned WrestleMania 34 in 2018 when he teamed up with Stephanie to face WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle and former Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.
Triple H: “There are lots, but you and I with Ronda and Kurt was also one of my favorite ones. Just because you did it with me. It was cool with the female biker gang.”
Stephanie and Triple H revealed that they learned to drive the trikes around in the parking lot before the show. They drove those down to the ring during the match.
Stephanie: “And then the most pressure was learning how to do the water spit. We’ve known for a very long time that I could never do the water spit.”
There was a clip of Stephanie trying to do Triple H’s entrance.
Stephanie: “So that day of WrestleMania, for like two hours, I’m standing in front of the shower trying to do your water spit.”
At the rehearsals, Triple H and Stephanie practiced doing the water spit and did it well.
Stephanie: “You didn’t let me in on how to do it until the very end.” (laughs)
Triple H: “I told you how to do it. You just weren’t paying attention. It is not as easy as you think.”
Stephanie: “It is not.”
While it was likely a big deal for Triple H to team with his wife at WrestleMania, the happy couple lost to Angle and Rousey in what was Rousey’s WWE debut match.
Triple H Was Okay When He Learned He Couldn’t Wrestle Again
The same interview that Triple H did with Stephanie also covered his wrestling retirement. Triple H had a heart procedure done in September 2021 after nearly dying. He was then told that he could never wrestle again.
There’s a moment in that where you lose who you are. You’re larger than life, you’re strong, you’re healthy. You could f*cking run through a wall anytime you want to and all that sh*t. You’re all of those things, that’s your identity, and all of that goes away. You’re seen as frail. It just all changes.
I remember when they had the conversation with me when they said we’re gonna put a defibrillator in and the reasons why so that means you would never wrestle again, like you can’t, you have to not do physicality. That didn’t even faze me. I was still alive, still had you, still had the kids, that’s what mattered. The rest of it was just stuff.
Some wrestlers get big send-offs for their retirement matches, but Triple H didn’t get that. His last match was a live event in Tokyo, Japan, in June 2019, where he teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura to defeat Robert Roode and Samoa Joe.
