Triple H Defended By WWE Hall Of Famer Against Fan Criticism
A WWE Hall of Famer has Triple H’s back after the boss man was criticized for a Raw appearance.
When John Cena appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw in his hometown (or close to his hometown) of Boston on the November 10th edition of Raw, he was introduced by the WWE Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Triple H did a speech to introduce Cena to the fans and put him over as the Greatest of All Time aka GOAT.
After Cena appeared, he was rudely interrupted by the former Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, who complained to Triple H (aka WWE’s boss) about recent happenings. Dom said the wrong things to Cena, which led to Cena getting in his face, and since it’s WWE, of course, it led to Triple H booking the match.
John Cena went on to beat Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Title for the first time on WWE Raw in Boston.
In the aftermath, critics like former WWE head writer Vince Russo, who also worked for WCW and TNA, criticized Triple H for being a part of the reason. Russo claimed there was no reason for Hunter to be there.
Why Triple H Was Needed For WWE Raw Segment
While Vince Russo may have thought Triple H didn’t need to be part of the Cena-Dominik segment, others pointed out that he was there to make the match. Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, who is a close friend of The Game, gave his explanation for the WWE boss getting involved in the segment.
“It was the John Cena show, and it should have been the John Cena show, and honestly, as long as they gave him his time, anything else they put on, there was gravy.
Well, you could, there was a bunch of people that said s**t like Joel, ‘Triple H, he’s such an egotistical person, he had to be out there and stay in’ [the segment]. I’m thinking, ‘Did anybody else watch this segment like he kind of had to be out there to make the match?
He went into the corner and didn’t make a movement and waited for his cue to kind of make things happen.’ Vince would have never been that subdued. So I’m thinking myself, like, ‘Do you just hate on people, just because?”
Regarding the match, the former WWE and WCW World Champion Nash enjoyed what he saw.
“Dom’s got great heat. Dom has really done a good job. And the thing is, it wasn’t by any means, a five star match, but because both characters are over, both characters are charsmatic, and people give a s**t, and there was a belt on the line.”
Next up for John Cena is his final WWE Raw appearance on a show taking place at Madison Square Garden. No word on whether Triple H will appear before the crowd, but he’ll likely be backstage running the show as usual.
