Triple H Bemoans Complacent NXT Stars On WWE Main Roster
Triple H made some intresting remarks about some WWE stars who he feels are complacent on the main roster.
The current WWE roster consists of many wrestlers who have been part of the company in the Performance Center era. It was Triple H’s idea to create the Performance Centre in Orlando as a way to give WWE a home base to train talent.
When WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was running the NXT brand through the 2010s decade, he became a coach and a mentor to the talents at the PC. Some of those taletns came from wrestling backgrounds while a lot of them came from other sports and fell in love being a WWE superstar.
In his current role as WWE CCO, Triple H oversees the creative direction of the WWE main roster meaning Raw, SmackDown and PLE shows. In an interview with the High Performance podcast, Triple H talked about how there are some instances where some wrestlers who came from NXT become complacement when they get to Raw or SmackDown.
“I can’t tell you how many talent I see come through our developmental system in phenomenal shape, work ethic, they look great, their stamina, they never blow up in the ring, everything’s spot on. They do everything right.
“They get brought up to Raw or SmackDown, they start on a journey, and six months in, I’m like, ‘This guy, you can barely tell he’s the same guy he was six months ago.’
“Like, they get out of shape, they stop training so hard. Some of that’s a learning curve of doing it on the road versus doing it at the Performance Center and all those things, but like… becoming complacent.”
Triple H Explains Why He Booked WrestleMania 41 Saturday Main Event
During a sitdown interview on WWE’s YouTube channel, Triple H explained his booking philosphy behind the WrestleMania 41 Saturday main event match: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk. In his comments, Triple H teased the idea that perhaps the Reigns-Rollins-Punk match is just the beginning between the three rivals.
“You can make the argument, ‘But you could have gotten a single with Seth and Roman. You could have got a single with Seth and Punk. You could have got Roman and Punk.’
There’s so much individual stuff. There is. But there’s also so much collective stuff, that I believe you can get this collective stuff off the table and then you haven’t even nicked the surface yet of where this goes between the three guys, one at a time.
Sometimes when you get to WrestleMania, people think that should be the definitive end. Well, maybe we’re just giving you the definitive beginning. Maybe we’re just trying to figure out how to navigate this to get to WrestleMania to START a story that takes you to places that you haven’t thought of yet.”
WrestleMania 41 will be a very busy weekend for Triple H because he’s also being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 18th.
