Triple H Explains Why Cody Rhodes’ Spot Is The Toughest In WWE
Cody Rhodes has become the face of WWE’s modern era since his impressive return at the 2023 Royal Rumble.
The company’s top babyface is known for always choosing the right path in his rivalries, whether against Roman Reigns, John Cena, or other main event stars. His role as the hero who overcomes obstacles and stays true to his values sets him apart.
However, WWE Chief Content Officer and Hall of Famer Triple H recently explained why this position is far from easy, sharing his admiration for Cody Rhodes’ dedication in a new five-part Netflix docuseries released by WWE.
Triple H Lauds Cody Rhodes
In the new documentary series WWE: Unreal, Triple H highlighted an important truth about wrestling storytelling. Playing a villain allows more freedom to craft excuses and justify actions, which can be entertaining and straightforward. But sustaining a heroic character who constantly chooses good over bad is challenging. It risks feeling predictable to the audience, and the wrestler must work even harder to keep fans invested.
Triple H praised Cody Rhodes, who has embraced this challenge with resilience and skill. He showed real commitment by walking the righteous path in WWE’s complex world.
Triple H said, “Cody is the closest thing right now, I think, that we have to just a pure babyface. That spot, in my opinion, is probably the most difficult spot in the business right now. Easy to be a bad guy. Tell people a bunch of convoluted sh*t that seems reasonable to you, and that’s fun and easy. Just to be the guy that does the right thing all the time and overcomes and always succeeds, people start to feel it’s predictable. People start to feel like it’s, like nobody’s that good. You know? It’s a tough thing.”
