Triple H Teases Cody Rhodes’ Heel Turn After WWE SNME
Cody Rhodes retained his WWE Undisputed Championship against Drew McIntyre.
Jacob Fatu was viciously attacked backstage before his scheduled match against Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown a few weeks ago. This brutal attack left Fatu bleeding, with broken teeth, and unable to compete. Following this, Drew McIntyre was granted a title shot against Cody Rhodes at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, 2025.
Despite a valiant effort and some brutal exchanges, McIntyre ultimately failed to secure the title. The turning point came when Rhodes used the championship belt as a weapon, delivering a DDT that stunned McIntyre long enough for Rhodes to pin him and retain the championship. This was a harsh display of Rhodes’s willingness to break rules to hold on to his gold.
Cody Rhodes used to have a strict code of honor and was reluctant to cheat or use unfair tactics, a trait that famously contributed to his loss against John Cena at WrestleMania earlier this year. However, in recent months, he has abandoned that scrupulous mindset and has employed multiple underhanded tactics, like the one we witnessed at SNME.
Cody Rhodes Might Be Slowly Turning Into A Heel
These tactics show a clear evolution in Rhodes’ character into a ruthless champion willing to do anything to keep his title. This may also be a hint that WWE is slowly building towards a heel turn for The American Nightmare, who was portrayed as Mr. Goody Two-Shoes for a long time. A recent tweet from Triple H has sparked more speculation that Rhodes might really drop his good, virtuous act to adopt a darker persona in WWE.
“A true champion always finds a way to win. Congrats @CodyRhodes! #SNME,” Triple H tweeted after Rhodes’ SMNE victory.
While this tweet may seem like a simple congratulatory post for the WWE Undisputed Champion after his victory at SMNE, it also holds a deeper meaning, which suggests that the drive to hold on to his title has consumed Rhodes to the point where he would go to any length to prevent himself from losing it.
