Triple H Addresses Change Made To WrestleMania Match

WWE Triple H

Triple H has commented on a WWE superstar that was removed from a match that they were advertised for at WrestleMania 41.

A dreaded “mystery attack” took place on WrestleMania 41 Saturday when Bayley was attacked backstage and quickly deemed too injured to compete in her match one night later.

Bayley was advertised for a Women’s Tag Team Title match with Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria against the championship team of Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez.

The injury to Bayley was just a storyline to bring Becky Lynch back to WWE after being away from the company for the last 11 months. The Irish team of Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria went on to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 41 by defeating Morgan & Rodriguez. Lynch got the win for her team with the Manhandle Slam.

It was reported that Bayley wasn’t dealing with an injury and that the injury angle was planned by WWE’s creative team, which led by Paul “Triple H” Leavesque, for several weeks as a way to bring Lynch back.

It was also reported that there was sympathy by people in WWE who like and respect Bayley as a respected locker room leader. Bayley has consistently been featured on TV, so taking her out of action likely upset some people who wanted to see her compete at WrestleMania.

Triple H Gives An Update On Bayley

As WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H gets to make the final call about what happens on WWE shows. While speaking on the WrestleMania post-show press conference, Triple H talked about Becky Lynch’s comeback and Bayley being taken off the card.

“Great to have Becky Lynch back. Phenomenal night for her. Very, very happy for Lyra. Don’t worry, guys, Bayley will be just fine. A true pro, cannot say enough good things about her. True pro.”

Fans will have to tune into WWE television to see how Triple H and the creative team follows up on the Bayley injury storyline.

There is a long history between Triple H running shows with Bayley and Becky Lynch because he was in charge of NXT when the two women debuted in WWE over a decade. Bayley became the NXT Women’s Champion while Triple H was in charge while Lynch had more success on the main roster. Both women are locks to join Triple H in the WWE Hall of Fame when their careers are over.
