Triple H Allegedly Refused To Put Over 5-Time WWE Champion

Triple H WWE

It has come to light that Triple H once refused to job to a former WWE champion to put him over.

Triple H has been the central figure for heat from many fans and critics for his questionable booking choices and creative decisions as the CCO of WWE.

Many feel that under his lead, WWE’s creative is failing to provide depth in storytelling, which makes feuds feel less compelling and matches less meaningful. Some critics also believe that he purposely “buries” wrestlers who get too popular without the company having given them a planned push.

One such critic is former wrestling booker Vince Russo. Russo is known for his soap-opera-like storytelling from his days working in WWE creative during the early Attitude Era and later as the head writer of the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He recently revealed on The Coach and Bro podcast that The Game once refused to put over 4-time European Champion and one-time Intercontinental Champion D’Lo Brown.

Vince Russo Recalls Triple H Not Putting Over D’Lo Brown

In the 22nd Dec episode of the Coach and Bro podcast, Russo shared an incident he says he’d never forget where Triple H simply refused to “job to” (lose to) The Nation Of Domination member D’Lo Brown in a feud with D-Generation X.

Triple H was not a top star at this point and was still under the shadow of stable-mate and best buddy Shawn Michaels, but Russo feels this is the incident that made Russo see a turn in him.

Guys, I will tell you an instance that I will never forget, and it’s kinda when I saw a turn in Triple H

We were doing a program with DX and The Nation(Of Domination).. and it was going back and forth and back and forth, and I’ll never forget when Triple H didn’t wanna do a job for D Lo Brown. And I knew right then and there that..ok here we go. And now here we are 25 years later. (33:04 onwards)
