Trinity Fatu On WWE Walkout – “Nobody Understands The Magnitude Of What Happened”
Trinity Fatu says she and Mercedes Mone “only had each other” when they decided to walk out of WWE.
Back in May of 2022, Trinity Fatu and Mercedes Mone walked out of an episode of Monday Night Raw amidst reported creative disputes with Vince McMahon. Known as Naomi and Sasha Banks at the time, the two were the currently reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and following their decision to leave, they were stripped of the titles and suspended without pay.
It would be months before either woman returned to wrestling, with Mone making her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Fatu, meanwhile, is now signed to IMPACT Wrestling and set to face Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary on July 15th.
Speaking to the New York Post ahead of Slammiversary, Fatu opened up about the circumstances that led to her WWE exit.
“There was a lot that happened. There was a lot that was said that ultimately led to me being put in a position and feeling like that was the best for me and what I needed to do. I still believe that. I still stand on that and that’s just what it is.”
Continuing, she spoke about her friendship with Mone, and said that other than regular communication from close friends Bayley and Tamina, it felt like they only had each other during that time.
“Me and her, we just had each other it felt like. Other than Tamina, Bayley checking in on us regularly, that was it. We just had each other going through that.
“Nobody understands the magnitude of what happened and what really went on and why we feel the way we feel and where we are but me and her and the people that were involved that day. It just goes to show how real our friendship is and how real all of this is.”
