First Trailer Released For “The Smashing Machine” Starring The Rock
The Rock’s latest movie will be out in October.
Back in December 2023, it was announced that The Rock was set to star in “The Smashing Machine,” based on the 2002 documentary of the same name.
The movie will chronicle MMA legend Mark Kerr’s turbulent year 2000 as substance abuse threatened to derail not only his career but his life. The WWE megastar will start alongside Emily Blunt, heavyweight boxing star Oleksandr Usyk, Lyndsey Gavin, former UFC fighter Ryan Bader, and MMA legend Bas Rutten.
The project is directed by Benny Safdie and will be released in October 2025.
You can find the description for the film below.
“‘The Smashing Machine’ is a drama based on the story of Mark Kerr, the legendary MMA fighter from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC at the peak of his career. He struggles with addiction, winning, love, and friendship in the year 2000.”
Martin Scorsese To Blame For The Rock’s Absence?
Meanwhile, Kevin Nash has blamed The Rock’s absence from WrestleMania 41 on Martin Scorsese.
Despite playing a key role in John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber, Rock disappeared from WWE television following the event and has barely been mentioned on television. While the man himself later claimed this was because the story involving Cena and Cody Rhodes didn’t need him, Nash believes his new movie under the guidance of Scorsese prevented him from getting involved.
In the lead-up to WrestleMania, it was reported that The Rock will be starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt in a new movie about a legendary Hawaiian crime boss.
