A WWE star is set for an extended spell out of the ring.

After losing the Women’s Tag Team Titles at Backlash: France, it was revealed Asuka would be undergoing surgery to repair a long-standing knee injury. Although there was no word on exactly what the injury was, she later underwent surgery, confirming the procedure lasted around an hour and a half.

In a recent video, Asuka began her rehabilitation, performing several exercises after removing her knee brace. The translated caption to the clip read:

“I had knee surgery the other day. The surgery was a great success, and my recovery is going well. Rehabilitation will continue until recovery.”

Asuka Won’t Return To WWE In 2024

However, it seems despite her progress it’ll be a long way back to the ring for the former Women’s Champion. During a recent Q&A, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp said the star isn’t expected back in action before the end of the year.

“[Asuka is] not expected back by the end of the year, according to people in WWE. But anything can happen. [I] don’t know the type of surgery yet.”
