A top WWE star feels they’ve let fans down.

On the March 11th episode of Raw, Sami Zayn triumphed in a hard-fought Gauntlet Match to earn a shot at Gunther and the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania.

Zayn overcame JD McDonagh, Bronson Reed, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Chad Gable to claim the win, although Gable’s shoulders appeared to be off the mat when he was finally beaten.

In recent weeks, Gable has made no secret of his desire to beat Gunther having come close previously. As a result, on Raw, fans were fully behind Gable as he tried to survive the gauntlet.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T revealed he spoke with Zayn after the victory and the star was upset about what he felt was heat online.

“We were flying out to Orlando and we were sitting next to each other on the plane,” Booker said. “I swear…so many people were pulling for Chad Gable. And Sami, I said ‘Man, what a match. What a match. You’re going to look back on this one one day and say ‘This is the one. This is the one that catapulted me to the next level. This is the one that put me in the light, let them see exactly what I can do.”

“And he was… literally upset about the online heat that he got from the fans. He was like ‘Man, I thought the fans loved me. And the next thing you know, I see all this stuff.’

I said ‘Man, you can’t listen to all the white noise. You’ve got to think about how great that match was, and you’re going to look back on it and say ‘Man, that was some really, really good work that I did.”

But he still, like I said, was feeling that he let someone down, just because the fans didn’t think the match was as good as I thought it was.”

Chad Gable Upset At Loss On WWE Raw

Meanwhile, Chad Gable has been left heartbroken and questioning his future following the defeat. Speaking after the match Gable refused to disclose what Zayn said when he embraced him after the bell, but admitted he was at a loss after coming up short yet again.

Gable added that he was “lost and directionless,” but he’s determined not to complain, instead focusing on trying to work out his next move.
