Top WWE Star Teases Match With The Rock
A main event WWE superstar has expressed an interest in working with WWE’s Final Boss aka The Rock.
At WrestleMania 40 on Saturday, April 6th, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will step back in the ring for his first official WrestleMania match in 11 years. Yes, he did get a win at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 when he hit Erick Rowan with a Rock Bottom for a six-second victory, but that was not a proper match.
The Rock will team up with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes & Seth “Freakin” Rollins in a high-stakes tag team match that WWE has called the biggest tag team match in company history. If The Rock’s team wins then the Reigns-Rhodes match at WrestleMania 30 will be Bloodline Rules, but if Rhodes & Rollins win then the match will be free of The Bloodline.
Drew McIntyre is also in a huge match at WrestleMania 30 because on April 7th on Night 2, he gets to challenge Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title. That match will also feature CM Punk on commentary.
In an interview with The Scottish Sun, McIntyre spoke about how The Rock remains very passionate about pro wrestling while also saying that Rock’s presence will help the company grow even more.
“When it comes to The Rock, it’s amazing he has such a passion for our business still. It’s in his blood and inevitably he became one of the biggest stars of all time in our industry and then the biggest star on planet earth – and he still wants to come back to wrestling.”
“It can only be a good thing because it brings so many extra eyeballs and those people become new fans – maybe they came for The Rock and stayed for Drew McIntyre.”
That also led to McIntyre speaking about how he has spoken to Rock about the business and how he learns from him.
“He’s remained down to earth and he’s very smart when it comes to business, and I’m very fortunate to be able to pick his brain.”
What Does Drew McIntyre Think About Facing The Rock In A Match?
For many current WWE superstars, The Rock is a guy they looked up to during his initial WWE run in the Attitude Era and the early 2000s. McIntyre certainly fits into that group just like Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, who get to be in the ring with Rock at WrestleMania 40.
“Whether it’s a match with or being in the same team as him, as long as the story makes sense, who wouldn’t want to be a part of something with The Rock?”
This past Monday on WWE Raw, The Rock and Drew McIntyre both had memorable segments since Rock beat up Cody Rhodes while McIntyre had a memorable promo exchange with Rollins and Punk.
