WWE has locked in another top star.

Asuka hasn’t wrestled since being defeated alongside Kairi Sane at Backlash France in early May as the pair lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles. The Japanese star had been dealing with a knee injury for some time and was eventually forced to take a hiatus for surgery.

Although there was no word on the exact nature of the injury, the star confirmed surgery lasted for an hour and a half. Since then, she’s begun her rehabilitation and the long road back to the ring.

Back in July, it was reported Asuka won’t wrestle again until 2025. However, she appears to still have a big part to play in WWE’s future plans.

Asuka Agrees “Long-term” WWE Deal

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Asuka has now signed a new long-term contract with WWE. It’s believed the contract was signed recently, although there’s no confirmation on the exact length or financial terms.

Asuka initially signed with the sports entertainment giant back in 2015 after establishing herself as one of the most impressive female wrestlers on the planet.

Since then she’s gone on to win every major honour on offer including four World Titles, tag team gold, Money In The Bank, and the Royal Rumble. Asuka remains the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion in history, having held the title for 522 days.
