Top WWE Star Limiting Use Of Finisher Due To Health Issues
A top WWE star has been forced into some changes.
At Survivor Series 2024, Bronson Reed stepped into the ring for one of the biggest matches of his career. Although not usually involved in The Bloodline warfare on SmackDown at the time, Reed came forward to team with Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu inside WarGames.
During the match, Reed launched himself from the top of the double cage, looking to drive Roman Reigns through a table. But unfortunately for Reed, CM Punk pulled him to safety, leaving the giant Aussie to crash and burn.
Following the show, it was reported that Bronson Reed had broken his ankle and would require surgery. The former North American Champion didn’t return to action until May, when he joined forces with Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, and Bron Breakker.
Reed later explained that he had snapped his talus bone completely in half, and following surgery had to learn to walk again.
In a new interview with The West Sport, Reed revealed that as a result of the injury, he’s stopped using his Tsunami finisher as regularly because of the toll it takes on his body.
“It hurts me though to do it as well as my opponent. So I try to limit as many as I do now.”
Bronson Reed Reflects On Path To WWE Return
Speaking elsewhere, Bronson Reed looked back on his time away from WWE and how he made it back to the company.
Despite impressing in NXT and winning the North American Championship, Reed was released back in August 2021 without being given a chance on the main roster. However, after a productive spell outside of the company, which included a win over Kazuchika Okada in the G1 Climax Tournament, he re-signed in December 2022.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that WWE has given Becky Lynch some richly deserved time off, meaning she’ll miss the event. The Women’s Intercontinental Champion is expected to be back in action in two weeks.
