Top WWE Star Declares For Royal Rumble

WWE Raw Seth Rollins Cody Rhodes Sami Zayn

The 2023 men’s Royal Rumble was won by Cody Rhodes and it looks like he’ll be going for two in a row come January.

Many thought Cody Rhodes’ victory in 2023 would see him finish his story and capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. However, Reigns wasn’t finished telling his own story and the champion retained his gold.

On Raw in Nashville, Cody Rhodes came to the ring feeling chipper after his WarGames win at Survivor Series. Rhodes made the announcement that he will be part of the men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27th, 2024 in Tropicana Field, Florida.

Should Cody Rhodes win that match he will likely have a choice of champions to face at WrestleMania 40 with Reigns still Universal Champion but Seth Rollins having won the newly introduced World Heavyweight Championship since the last WrestleMania.

Who Has Won Back-To-Back WWE Royal Rumbles?

Should Cody Rhodes win the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, he will be in elite company in WWE. Hulk Hogan was the first man to do so when he won the match in 1990 and 1991.

Shawn Michaels was next when he completed back-to-back wins in 1995 and 1996. Stone Cold Steve Austin repeated the feat in 1997 and 1998 – although his first win was not without controversy as re-entered the match after already being eliminated.

No woman has won the Royal Rumble match more than once since that match was introduced by WWE in 2018.
