A WWE superstar got candid about his strained relationships in the locker room.

Many wrestling stories have been told to date, depicting camaraderie in the locker room. In most cases, the friendlier the relationships, the better the in-ring dynamics.

Gunther, who won the Heavyweight Championship title back from Jey Uso on WWE Raw, confirmed a broken relationship with the locker room.

The Austrian appeared on Raw Recap hosted by Sam Roberts and Megan Morant.

When asked about not being distracted by the fanfare surrounding his opponent, Gunther took a jab at his peers, setting the record straight.

Everybody gets excited about everything in this business. A lot of my colleagues don’t seem to have many friends at home or something like that. For them, it’s very important to have a good time here at work with all the guys together.

When somebody achieves something, they come to the back and everybody’s there hugging them and all of that. When I walked backstage today, there was no one, everybody left. Guess all the other guys saw it on the screen, saw the finish and left to their hotels or traveled home or something like that. [From 6:46]

WWE Champion Gunther Is All Business

Gunther doesn’t appear fazed by his relationship with the locker room or by the limelight now being on him again, for that matter.

On Raw Recap, the WWE Heavyweight Champion made it explicitly clear that he was in it for the business.

I enjoy that position (being at the top).

I don’t need friends and I’m not here to make friends. I’m not here to, whatever, bond and have lifelong friendships. I have a few friends, I have a great family, that’s all I need.

I’m here for business. I’m here to uphold the standard and the prestige of this great sport.

Gunther had lost his title to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. The build-up for the June 9 match started in May, during which he only wrestled in one match against Pat McAfee at Backlash.
