Top WWE Star Calls For More Respect On Bayley’s Name
A big name in WWE thinks that Bayley is too often overlooked by the company and perhaps some fans as well.
At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference in Las Vegas, there was a heavy focus on the men’s main event scene with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns on hand along with The Rock, Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and the World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
That explosive situation saw Cody Rhodes challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40. That didn’t sit well with The Rock, who slapped Cody in the face before it was broken up.
There was some female representation at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event with former Women’s Champion Bianca Belair on hand to plug her Hulu reality series Love & WWE with Montez Ford. The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley was also there and there was an unadvertised appearance from Becky Lynch, who confronted Ripley.
A woman that was missing at the event was Women’s Royal Rumble winner Bayley. On the February 2nd edition of Smackdown, Bayley made her decision about what champion she would challenge at WrestleMania 40. Even though it seemed like Bayley might go after Ripley, she was turned on by her Damage CTRL allies IYO SKY, Asuka & Kairi Sane. That led to Bayley fighting back with a steel pipe and Bayley said she was coming after SKY at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
When WWE often does posters for WrestleMania or other events, they tend to leave Bayley out, which upsets some fans. It’s not just fans that want to see her get more respect.
CM Punk Wants Bayley To Have More Respect
There was a panel at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event that saw Michael Cole, Pat McAfee and former WWE Champions CM Punk & Big E talking about what was happening. Punk had a big brace on his right arm since he had surgery on his right triceps one week earlier.
After the festivities, Punk went on Instagram to talk about how Bayley deserves more respect.
“I feel the need to, as a broadcast journalist, express the fact that I really wanted to talk about Bayley and how she won the Royal Rumble for the women. She wasn’t represented on the poster, I felt like she needed a presence there.”
“I got caught up talking about The Rock and Reigns and Cody and Seth, and all that, but very much in the main event mix is Bayley. She won the Rumble, don’t forget it. Put some respect on her name.”
Punk and Bayley are good friends especially because Bayley is close with Punk’s wife, former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee. Punk has also joked in the past about wanting to join Bayley’s Damage CTRL group, but he was turned down.
