Top WWE Faction Breakup Confirmed During Raw

WWE has officially brought an end to one major faction that found plenty of success in recent years.

After almost three years together, it was recently reported that WWE had quietly disbanded the Damage CTRL faction. Injury had kept Asuka out of action for well over a year, and it was during that absence that Dakota Kai was released from her WWE contract.

Asuka recently returned to WWE, claiming two big wins to move on to the final of the WWE Queen of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions. The winner of that tournament will earn a world title match at SummerSlam.

WWE Confirms Damage CTRL Is No More

On the June 23rd edition of Raw, Women’s World Champion IYO SKY congratulated her former partner backstage and noted that if Asuka wins the tournament, they can face off at SummerSlam as they had discussed during their time in Damage CTRL.

Asuka was blunt with SKY and reminded the Women’s World Champion that they aren’t in Damage CTRL anymore.

This is the first time it has been acknowledged on-screen that Damage CTRL has come to an end. Another Damage CTRL alumnus was in action on Raw as Bayley failed to unseat Becky Lynch as WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, with the bout ending in a disqualification win for Lynch.
