Top TNA Star Officially Signs With WWE
A former TNA World Champion has landed in WWE.
As the working relationship between TNA and WWE has developed, the crossover between the two brands has only increased.
It’s long been speculated that this would lead to top TNA talent signing with the sports entertainment giant after unofficial “try-out” runs on NXT television, and those rumours appear to be on the money.
Starting in mid-2024, Joe Hendry began appearing on WWE television as the relationship between the sports entertainment giant and TNA grew closer and closer. As a result, Hendry has featured regularly on NXT, as well as competing at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 41.
This was followed by a report in May that stated it was “a lock” that Joe Hendry will sign with WWE when his TNA contract expires.
Joe Hendry Signs WWE Deal
Following those reports and several months of heavy speculation, it’s now been confirmed via Fightful Select that Hendry has finally signed with WWE.
The move won’t come as a shock as Hendry hadn’t wrestled at any TNA tapings since September — his final match aired in October. During this period, he missed Bound For Glory and hadn’t been creatively factored in for the company’s upcoming Turning Point special.
Instead, the Scottish star has remained a regular presence on NXT, competing at three live events while joining forces with Thea Hail on television. The pair is set to challenge Chelsea Green and Ethan Page for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship at NXT Gold Rush on November 18.
