Top TNA Star Agrees “Unprecedented” WWE Deal

Triple H WWE Smackdown

One of TNA’s biggest names is working out at the WWE Performance Center.

July 30th was another big night in the career of Joe Hendry as he performed a concert on WWE television for the first time. Not that things went entirely to plan as the segment ended with him being destroyed by Gallus. Later in the night, it was announced the TNA star would meet Joe Coffey on August 6th.

As his presence on WWE television grows, Hendry has now confirmed he’s officially training at the Performance Center.

In an interview with Matt Camp on The Wrestling Matt, Hendry called the deal “unprecedented,” thanking WWE and TNA for working things out.

“I’m in a situation where we’re having historic collaboration between TNA Wrestling and WWE. We’re in a situation where TNA Wresting have worked it out with WWE where I can appear on TNA Wrestling as a contracted talent, I can appear on NXT, and I can train at the Performance Center full-time and do indies and do signings. This is unprecedented. It’s never been done before in the business. So thank you to TNA and WWE for figuring it out,”

The arrangement marks another step in the relationship between the two companies that really kicked into gear in May, with Jordynne Grace challenging for the NXT Women’s Title.

While discussing his opportunity to train at the PC, Hendry said he had no interest in resting on his laurels, and this could be a chance for TNA to do “historic business.”

Joe Hendry Delighted To Work With WWE Legend

Hendry went on to reveal it was Shawn Michaels who personally approached him about training at the Performance Center, adding it was a chance he jumped at.

“For me personally, from a training perspective, Shawn’s giving me a huge opportunity, and Shawn said, ‘Hey, this door is open. If you want to train at the Performance Center, we’re gonna open that door.’

I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’ I said, ‘Give me a week to sort out my real-life stuff back home in Scotland, and let’s go.’ We figured it out. So right now, I’m training at the Performance Center and I’m here in Orlando, and I’m getting this amazing opportunity to learn from the greatest in-ring performer of all time,”

While at the Performance Center, Hendry also works with Terry Taylor and takes part in promo classes.
