Top Star Had To Resolve “Weird Stuff” With CM Punk Following WWE Return
A popular WWE star has recalled settling their differences with CM Punk.
On November 25th, 2023, CM Punk completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in WWE history. Despite several years of controversy, legal issues, and just about everything in between, Punk made his return to the company.
Punk’s appearance caught just about everyone by surprise and came just two months after he’d been unceremoniously fired by AEW.
To celebrate CM Punk’s return, WWE has released a new video packed with never-before-seen footage of the chaos at Survivor Series.
CM Punk And Big Name Star Resolved Their Issues
On that famous night in Chicago, Sami Zayn was one of the men left in the ring as Punk made his stunning comeback. While Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre made it clear they weren’t happy to see the former AEW star, Zayn kept his emotions in check despite there being very real tension between the pair.
In the new behind-the-scenes video looking at Punk’s comeback, Zayn reflected on their previous issues, and how they came to talk things out.
“Uh, kinda hard to say. I think there was still some weird underlying stuff with Punk and I. Punk is, I guess it’s pretty well documented that he’s an interesting character who’s had his ups and downs with most people, both in the ring and backstage. I think there was just some unresolved stuff between he and I, we hadn’t spoken for I don’t know how many years at this time.
Seeing him back, at first it’s like, huh, okay. But we eventually ended up talking whatever issues out and just, you know, it is what it is. It kind of doesn’t matter what I think, look at those people, they’re all jumping out of their seats, I think that’s all that really matters.”
One year on, Punk will again be in attendance for Survivor Series, but this time he’ll be competing in the ring. Following a surprise reunion with Paul Heyman on the November 22nd edition of SmackDown, Punk will now team with Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and The Usos inside WarGames against Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Bronson Reed.
The match marks the first time Punk has wrestled inside the famous structure.
