Top NXT Star Considered To Be “Major Player” In WWE For Years To Come

One of the top stars in WWE NXT is considered by many people in the company to be a “major player” in the future.

The purpose of the WWE NXT brand is to try to develop younger talent to get them ready for the main roster shows like Raw and Smackdown. Some of the wrestlers that appear on the gold & white brand have very little experience before they get under the lights while others have been wrestling for years before they compete on television.

Carmelo Hayes, the current NXT Champion, was a successful indy wrestler before signing with WWE in early 2021.

Since joining WWE, Hayes has been a shooting star 2021 Breakout Tournament winner. He cashed in that tournament win to become the NXT North American Champion in October 2021. For the next year and a half, Hayes was the “A Champion” that made the North American Title as prestigious as it has ever been.

At this year’s Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event during WrestleMania weekend, Hayes beat Bron Breakker to become the NXT Champion in the first match they had on television. Hayes beat Bron in the rematch to win the feud.

The WRKD Wrestling Twitter account shared a note about Hayes appearing on tonight’s episode of Raw while also noting that WWE officials see a lot of potential in Melo.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is expected to be involved with #WWERaw tonight. Many backstage feel as though the 28-year-old has high potential to be a major player in the company for years to come.

On Tuesday night’s WWE NXT Gold Rush episode, Carmelo Hayes will defend his championship against Baron Corbin in what should be a tough test for the rising star.
