The number of social media hacking attempts on pro wrestlers’ accounts has seen a rise lately.

Before a top AEW star recently fell victim to it, WWE’s AJ Styles’ account was compromised in May, forcing him to release a video on Instagram claiming the same.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman has now revealed that his Twitter account had been compromised.

Some now-deleted tweets showed promoting a crypto-style money flip via WhatsApp, leaving fans confused. One of the tweets even encouraged fans to contact someone named “Vicky” to invest $800 to get significant returns.

“You’ll be able to get help from her. Tell her I referred you that you want to invest. Do not miss this opportunity. Message her on WhatsApp now to start up your trading. I gotcha on 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 with just $800 and thank me later.

Another tweet revealed a suspicious phone number while promoting the scam with more urgency.

Just hit her up on WhatsApp directly. You can get bonus points when you use my username. Good luck you’ll +1 (628) 252-8027

AEW Champion MJF Regains Control Of X Account

The hack seemingly lasted for a brief period, during which some of his followers flagged the scam messages.

MJF then addressed the situation, updating his followers that his account had indeed been hacked, but he had regained full control.

While at it, the Salt of the Earth also cautioned people against falling for such messages.

My Twitter got hacked. If you were messaged by me that I needed money, my apologies. However, if you were messaged by me and you were dumb as f**k enough to believe that… my Venmo information is below.

MJF won the AEW World Championship at Worlds End on December 27.

After returning to TV recently, the 29-year-old cashed in his Casino Gauntlet contract, inserting himself in the AEW Championship match involving champion Samoa Joe and challengers ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and Swerve Strickland.
