AEW is emanating live from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, where the promotion is hosting the 2025 edition of Full Gear. The venue has hosted the event on two separate instances in the past, as it was the home for both the 2022 and 2024 editions.

The match card for this year’s event is packed with multiple high-stakes matches, with several of the promotion’s titles on the line. One new champion is set to be crowned at the event, as the winner of the Casino Gauntlet match will be crowned the inaugural AEW National Champion.

The broadcast kicked off with El Sky Team’s defense of the CMLL World Trios Championship against Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero of the Don Callis Family.

AEW’s Don Callis Family start the PPV on a losing note

There have been tensions developing inside the Don Callis Family between Okada and Takeshita, and that was visible during tonight’s match. Okada attacked Takeshita in between the match when the latter wasn’t looking and threw him out of the ring.

The AEW Unified Champion even struck IWGP World Heavyweight Champion with the Rainmaker on one occasion, which shifted the momentum in favour of El Sky Team. Consisting of Místico, Máscara Dorada, and Neón, they were in complete control of the match after Okada hit Takeshita with his finisher.

The match ended as Mistico performed a reverse Hurricurana on Hechicero and then applied a submission hold on the Don Callis Family member. He tapped out immediately, and El Sky Team were able to retain their titles successfully.
