A main event wrestler in AEW could be making his return to the ring soon.

The 2024 edition of AEW All In is just over a week away with top matches including the World Champion Swerve Strickland defending his title against Bryan Danielson while MJF puts the American Title on the line against Will Ospreay.

At the 2023 AEW All In PPV, it was MJF successfully defending the World Title against his “best friend” (at the time) Adam Cole in the main event.

It was just a few weeks after that on the September 20th edition of the Dynamite Grand Slam when MJF beat Samoa Joe to retain the All Elite Wrestling World Title. During that match, Adam Cole went to ringside and suffered a major injury simply by jumping off the ramp to the floor. It was a broken ankle and major surgery for Cole, who has been out of action for nearly a year.

There is a positive update on Adam Cole’s future because Fightful Select is reporting that the former Owen Hart Foundation Cup winner Cole is “set to resume training for a hopeful return as soon as next week.” Cole has been on the road with the company at recent shows as well, which is an encouraging sign.

That ankle injury was awful timing for Cole since it was revealed later in the year that he was not a genuine friend to MJF. Cole turned heel by forming the Undisputed Kingdom group with Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett. However, since Cole has been out, the group hasn’t been featured much as a five-man unit with Wardlow also having been taken off All Elite Wrestling television for some unknown reason.

When Was Adam Cole’s Last Match In AEW?

Adam Cole’s last match was on September 3, 2023, at AEW All Out when he teamed up with MJF to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles against The Dark Order

The serious ankle injury suffered by Cole is his second long absence in AEW since he missed about nine months of action from the second half of 2022 due to a serious concussion issue.
