Top AEW Star Would Love This New Title In The Company

Tony Khan AEW

One top AEW star wants the chance to compete for even more gold in the company.

It’s no secret that Tony Khan loves a title belt, and the case for AEW introducing a Women’s Tag Team Championship is continuing to grow.

Khan himself recently noted that he’s interested in bringing in more gold for the females of AEW to compete for and thinks a tag team belt is realistic in the future:

There are a lot of great teams in the women’s division and a lot of great partnerships and rivalries that would lend themselves to those matches. As I’m building back the tag division to get it to its strongest point, which I think is moving in a good direction, and as we get people healthy, and when you look at some of the great tag matches, the division is getting better.

We have the best wrestlers, and I am interested in (AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles). I’m also trying to build the tag division I have right now. It is something I’m interested in doing, and it is realistic to see at some point.

The Triangle of Madness, Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne, Athena & Billie Starkz, Harley Cameron & Kris Statlander, and even Toni Storm & Alex Windsor could throw their hat in the ring for tag team gold with their own alliances in the company.

Kris Statlander Wants More AEW Gold

Speaking on Grapsody, Kris Statlander explained why she’d love to have the chance to win the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship when it’s introduced:

I would love that. We’ve had some success, Harley and I as a team. So maybe there’s a good chance somewhere in there for that. But also one of my trainers was a tag team champion. So kind of tag team wrestling is something that I am very fond of, and just something that was very heavily implemented in us when we were training, on how to have good tag matches and stuff.

So it’s been very nice to kind of almost like give a tribute to the people that trained me in a way. I’ve stolen some of my trainer’s stuff. Actually, I do it with Harley, and it’s been nice to kind of honor them in that way for showing me the proper way to do a tag match, and it’s just, it’s just nice to kind of like, get back to that.

Also, every opportunity to win a belt is also every opportunity for someone to be your opponent and to hate you and to want to take you out. So, great, but also watch your back, everybody, because people love to fight for gold,” she added when asked about the depth of the roster.
