Top AEW Star Praises “Genius” Paul Heyman
One of the biggest names in AEW has labeled WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman a “genius.”
Paul Heyman is known as the “Wise Man” and the Special Counsel of The Bloodline group in WWE. That’s because of his nearly 40-year-run that has landed Paul Heyman in the WWE Hall of Fame on WrestleMania 40 weekend in Philadelphia.
While Heyman has admitted he turned down the WWE Hall of Fame invite in the past, this year’s event takes place in Philadelphia, which is a city that played a big factor in Heyman’s career when he ran ECW and Philly was considered the home base of the promotion. Even though ECW died in 2001, there will likely be a lot of “ECW” chants in Philadelphia that weekend.
Chris Jericho became a household name in ECW before he went to WCW, so Jericho has fond memories of working with Heyman. They also worked together in WWE for many years as well. During an appearance on Gabby LaSpisa’s “Gabby AF” podcast, Jericho praised Heyman for his intelligence.
“Not just in the ring, but behind the scenes too, Paul is just one of those guys. He gets it. He’s a genius, but he also knows how to play the game. He knows how to play the wrestling business game. I mean, that’s a first ballot Hall of Famer for me. He knows exactly what to do to tell the story. He knows exactly what to do to build his guys.”
“Whoever he attaches himself to becomes a better performer and a bigger star. He’s just one of those guys. He’s very smart. He’ll be in the business until he’s 80 years old if he chooses to be and he started when he was 15. So definitely a no-brainer for the Hall of Fame and like I said, one of my favorite characters I’ve ever met in the wrestling business.”
Paul Heyman Set To Be Involved In Two More WrestleMania Main Events
Over the course of his 20+ year career in WWE as an advocate and Special Counsel (or “manager” as fans might say), Paul Heyman has been a part of several WrestleMania main events. There were some of them involving Brock Lesnar while in the last three years, Heyman has been at Roman Reigns’ side.
At WrestleMania 40 Night 1 in Philadelphia, Cody Rhodes will team up with World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins against the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Rock.
If Reigns & Rock win then it’s Bloodline Rules at WrestleMania 40 Night 2 when Reigns defends the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Cody Rhodes. However, if Cody & Seth win then Rock has said that The Bloodline won’t be present for the Reigns-Rhodes match. Perhaps Heyman could be an exception as the “Wise Man” of The Bloodline group. Tune into WrestleMania 40 to see what happens.
