Top AEW Star Blasts WWE For Wanting To Counter Program

A former WWE superstar who works for AEW has spoken out on social media after a report about future WWE plans.

It’s a busy weekend for fans of WWE and AEW, as the two companies are combining to put on four extra shows for wrestling enthusiasts.

The biggest AEW PPV of the year is All In Texas, taking place on July 12th in the Dallas area. To counter the show, WWE is running the NXT Great American Bash PLE head-to-head in the afternoon. That night will also have the Saturday Night’s Main Event NBC TV special.

There will also be the return of the women’s-only Evolution PLE on Sunday, July 13th.

As for the future, the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV is scheduled for August 24th, and it has been reported that WWE plans to run the NXT Heatwave show on the same day.

Since Forbidden Door is taking place in England, it will likely be an afternoon show for fans in the US and Canada. As a result, WWE NXT Heatwave may air in the evening, rather than competing head-to-head with Forbidden Door.

Ricochet Thinks WWE Running Shows Against AEW Is A “B**ch Move”

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet chose to sign with AEW one year ago when his WWE contract expired. Since then, Ricochet has been featured on television regularly, competing in great matches against top stars like Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, and Will Ospreay, among others. As a heel, Ricochet is one of the most hated wrestlers in the company. It’s a different role for him since Ricochet was a babyface during his long WWE run.

Wrestlevotes provided some info about WWE business practices when it comes to going up against AEW. Reacting to that, Ricochet called it a “Bi**h Move” by WWE.

“This is definitely something WWE wants to do where hey, if NXT is on the road and booking for arenas, they want to do it somewhere where they’re gonna have the last word of the night. AEW’s gonna be having ‘ALL IN’ in the afternoon and WWE’s gonna be coming in there after with SNME, so at the end of the day you’re not just talking about the fall out from AEW, you’re talking about what WWE is doing as well. Controlling the narrative and momentum online — So there’s no coincidence, there’s definitely a directive coming from WWE with the behest of TKO behind, they’re all for it. They want to do more of these things.”

Ricochet will be in action at AEW All In Texas when he competes in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match for a future shot at the AEW World Title.
