Top AEW Star Takes Blame For Bryan Danielson Neck Surgery

Bryan Danielson

An AEW wrestler thinks it is his fault that Bryan Danielson needs surgery to repair his damaged neck.

The main event of AEW All In on August 25th at London’s Wembley Stadium will see Swerve Strickland defend the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson.

It’s a match that has become a personal rivalry since Danielson will also put his career on the line in the match. Swerve has spoken about Bryan’s family during promos to build up the match, which has only infuriated Danielson during the build to the match.

Recently, Bryan Danielson spoke about how he will likely need neck surgery before the end of 2024.

“My body is broken down. The odds are I’m probably going to have to have neck surgery before the end of the year. I’ve got all of those kind of things. This pro wrestling thing, it’s been incredible and it’s hard to imagine my life without it for the past twenty five years but it’s a lot easier to imagine my life going forward without me wrestling.

It’s hard for me to imagine me keeping doing this, especially with the last year. I’ve had herniated discs in my back, tore the labrum in my shoulder, then I broke my arm which required nine screws, then I had two fractures in my orbital bone. I just recently hurt my neck really bad and that was in April, so it’s all of these things.”

In the month of April, Bryan Danielson lost a dream match to Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty. Ospreay won after hitting the deadly Tiger Driver 91 move followed by the Hidden Blade elbow for the win.

Will Ospreay Blames Himself For Bryan Danielson Needing Neck Surgery

Since that match with Danielson, Ospreay has said that he doesn’t want to use the Tiger Driver 91 again because of how devastating it is when a wrestler’s head/neck goes crashing to the mat.

On AEW Collision this week, there was a video package about the dangers of the Tiger Driver 91 move. Ospreay went on Twitter/X to reiterate that he won’t be doing the move again.

“The fact that Danielson is gonna get neck surgery later this year and it stems from our encounter from Dynasty is enough for me to not wanna touch this move.”

“Every other move I have if you’re trained enough you can protect yourself.”

There no way to protect yourself here.”

All of this is part of a storyline also involving the Ospreay match with Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) at All In for MJF’s AEW American Title as well.
